Green Data Centers – Desire to Help by Economics
They seem to be the new buzz words and hype in the new green movement. Companies can not wait to promote their latest green initiative and tell the public how they are going green. On the one hand, it is very important for large companies to find ways to reduce energy use to reduce carbon emissions and doing their part to slow the green house effect. However, these efforts are not always based on the desire to help the environment. For many companies, this decision is purely a business choice, and only based on economic factors.
Reduce Carbon footprint
the data center and take up more energy with each passing year. As soon as possible will use the data center more energy than the other to the needs of industry as a server, collocation and data increased. That is why the government and environmental organizations and explore the data center to cut their energy use.
There are many ways in which the data center will be on tackling this problem:
• Power efficient with installing server-power-efficient server in the data center, facilities can reduce the amount of energy used per server. This allows for the same amount to take the data as a central server without using much energy.
• Recycled-summer with all the heat generated by the server, several companies are looking for ways to harness that power and use it rather than continue to let it go to waste. How recycling company that is using the summer heat to other parts of the building, another building nearby, a swimming pool to heat or even to heat the greenhouse.
• Recycled-power with the development of technology, there are a number of resources that can not be used. Instead of wasting time, some data centers have found a way to harness additional resources and recycle back into the system. In this way, not only use 70% of available resources, they can save the extra 30%, recycled back into the system and use it again.
Environmental or Economic Motivation
While all this is a major initiative, the question came down to the motivation behind them. Is this company really care about the environment, or they try to save money on the increase in oil prices and use the green movement as a good front?
Energy becomes more and more expensive and companies are forced to pay high prices for their products before to get cheaper. Not only the rising cost of energy, but there is a limit to how much power is allocated to each facility. This limits the number of servers that can be brought to the data center and in turn put a cap on the number of business facilities that can be done.
Instead of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional power lines to the building, will be easier and cheaper for data centers to “go green” and cut the amount of power used. This, in turn, will increase the number of servers they can be included in the data center and improve their business.
In some cases, the green does not occur because of the desire to reduce carbon emissions or to help preserve the environment. Instead of money and motivated by the desire to do business. In both cases, the end result is data center-friendly environment, which reduces carbon emissions, it may be, just may be the motivation behind it is not relevant.
